David O'Hanna - Director - Barrier Advisors

Mr. O’Hanna is a Director in the Operations Strategy Group at Barrier Advisors, Inc. with over 25 years of experience in operations management. He is an expert in the execution of process improvement at the business unit/plant levels and also specializes in training, coaching and developing business unit managers. His industry experience includes pulp and paper, plastics, and aerospace.

During his career Mr. O’Hanna has served in several interim management positions. He served as interim Director of Logistics and achieved financial turnaround in only 6 months helping to stabilize the Company’s cash flow, inventory control and product deliveries; additionally, he reduced labor costs while improving production 50%. He also served as interim Director of Converting, strengthening the management team by implementing Performance Management resulting in a 34% overtime reduction and a 13% throughput improvement. Additional assignments include interim Plant Manager at a plastics company during wind down for a client portfolio company, continuous improvement projects for an aerospace private equity portfolio company and a direct sales private equity portfolio company. Mr. O’Hanna has led several Kaizen Events, including buy-side operational due diligence assessments, and directed project teams resulting in process improvements and cost savings.

Prior to joining our firm Mr. O’Hanna was employed by United Parcel Service where he held multiple key leadership positions, each with complete multimillion dollar P&L responsibilities.

Mr. O’Hanna’s extensive operations knowledge includes performance management and Lean Concepts. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Green Belt and has completed 200 plus specialized training courses, from labor relations (union negotiations on the company side) to internal business processes. Mr. O’Hanna was awarded #1 on the UPS balance scorecard over 15 consecutive times. Mr. O’Hanna earned his B.A. in Business Administration from Lynchburg College.
