Jim has over 25 years in significant business leadership positions with some of the industry’s leading real estate financiers and financial service firms. Throughout his career, Jim has built multi-million dollar growth platforms, repositioned businesses and achieved significant cost savings at Fortune 500 industry leaders including GE Capital, Capital One Financial and Bank of New York. Significant positions include: SVP / Managing Director and founder of GE Capital Real Estate Capital Markets group, and President of BNY Asset Solutions. Jim’s core expertise includes: new business formation and launch, capital markets and structured finance, commercial real estate lending and investing, corporate development and merger integration, turnarounds, debt restructuring and workouts. Specific highlights include:
- Provided corporate restructuring services to a group of term loan lenders ($850+MM credit facility) of a $4B finance company
- Consulted on over $3B in debt workouts / restructurings for real estate developers, notably Lincoln Property Co.
- Firm expert for Kenneth Leventhal for troubled financial institutions and regulatory forbearance agreements and business plans; worked on MeraBank, San Jacinto Savings and several others. Assisted investors evaluate Southwest Plan acquisitions of troubled thrifts
- Ran and turned around BNY Asset Solutions (Bank of New York subsidiary), a $16B servicing platform, which also included oversight of the distressed asset investment and recovery business which delivered 25% IRR to investment banking partner on two distressed loan portfolios. Voting member on special servicing committee for troubled asset resolution for real estate, franchise and business loans.
- Acquisition due diligence on over 15 corporate acquisitions and over $17B in commercial real estate valuations and purchase due diligence.
- Bid on over $8B of distressed commercial real estate loans at GE, Nomura, Heller
- Led Capital One Contract Finance team, which delivered $206MM in annual savings (84% increase over prior year), through outsourcing and major contract with US Postal Service (profiled in CEO magazine).
