Michael Lustbader - Managing Director

Mr. Lustbader is a Managing Director at Barrier Advisors. He has over 20 years experience in the areas of restructuring, commercial finance and banking. Mr. Lustbader’s experience includes turnarounds, bankruptcy and insolvency, 363 sales, asset based lending, M&A financing, workouts and liquidations, bank group management and acquisition integrations.

Mr. Lustbader has also advised senior management as an observer to the board of directors, played active roles on creditor steering committees, and advised loan officers regarding troubled investments. He has been involved in numerous recent restructurings including Delphi Automotive, Vertis Communications, Quebecor, Nellson Nutraceutical, Handleman, and Rowe Furniture. He has also previously advised clients in over 75 lending relationships.

Prior to joining Barrier advisors in 2009, Mr. Lustbader was a Senior Vice President at GE Capital Commercial Finance, where he held numerous roles including being a senior member of the Restructuring Finance Group, running a $2.1 billion portfolio group, managing the domestic lending national operations group, managing the credit policies and procedures and collateral monitoring departments, and co-leading two major GE acquisitions. Prior to GE Capital, Mr. Lustbader held various leadership and lending roles at The Bank of New York, and at Irving Trust Company.

Mr. Lustbader received his undergraduate degree in marketing from the State University of New York at Albany, and his MBA in finance at The University of Michigan. He is Six Sigma Quality “greenbelt” trained and certified, and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
